A couple people sent me this article, "It's the economy, girlfriend," with the headline "hilarious" or "OMG." I couldn't decide what to do with it. I don't know anybody like these women. They seemed kind of cartoonish to me. But just because I don't know people like this doesn't mean they don't exist. So, I was going to post it with some snarky comment, until I saw this article on NPR.org: "Did the New York Times get Punk'd?"
What do you guys think?
And if it were real, what do you think about the girls? I took a look at their blog, got one paragraph in and promptly tuned out the nonsense. It's not worth my time to read. I'm more of an "invest in your smarts and savvy" kind of girl, than an "invest time into finding a rich boyfriend" kind of girl. To each their own, I suppose. Good luck with your book, girls.

I read several pages/links of it too when I first found it several days ago. Actually, I have no doubt whatsoever that these women are real people stating real situations. Bernie Madoff for years coldheartedly screwed his friends and family and charitable organizations and millions of folks he didn't know and had no qualms about, it since he was living rich. These Banker-Anon females are wannabe Madoffs, i.e., concerned 100% with themselves, the ultimate narcissists. Period. The few pages that I read actually were quite amusing. Most "normal" people would think that people that shallow would have to be made up, that they could not actually exist; but I think not, i.e., I think they're real people whining seriously about their real life. I'd recommend it to others as a humor page and a lesson in human nature. Other than that, it's basically a waste of time.
I agree with Sally. While it might look like these people can't be real, I'm convinced that they are. That said, I have zero sympathy for them... plenty of people who are in worse shape, and who have no significant other on whom to rely, are whining a lot less, if at all. This is all about who they perceive themselves to be, and the woman who described her boyfriend as "an alpha male" pretty much told me more than I wanted to know.
